Flexibility for your needs
CostX provides you with numerous fields for nodes whose visibility, title, and order you can customize to meet the requirements of the document you are creating. You can also customize the appearance of the fields in the list, chart, and columns views, as well as in the inspectors.
Fields
WBS number field
The content of the WBS number field is automatically created by the application and cannot be edited by the user.
Name field
The name of the node.
Code field
The code of the node, data type is string. CostX does not restrict the use of this field. You can change the title of the field and use it to enter strings for other purposes.
Photo field
The photo of the node. CostX scales the image to a size suitable for saving.
Category field
The category of the node. CostX provides a settings page to configure all the categories used in the document. CostX does not restrict the use of this field. You can also customize the title of the field and use it for other purposes, for example, to record the status of the node.
Cost fields
There are two groups of fields used to record costs for estimates and actual costs. In each group there are 18 cost fields, including 12 fields for direct costs and 6 fields for compound costs. (So in total CostX provides you with 36 fields to enter costs, including 24 fields for direct costs and 12 fields for compound costs in two groups).
- A simple cost field consists of only one field.
- A field for compound costs consists of a quantity and a rate whose value is equal to the quantity multiplied by the rate.
You have the flexibility to select the fields used for the document and customize the display of the title and sequence.
CostX is designed to be used in a relatively wide range of areas. You can use it for business requirements such as WBS, CBS, and PBS, as well as other requirements that require disaggregated costs or data. The cost fields provided by CostX offer options for your specific needs, although it takes some time to become familiar with how to customize these fields for different requirements.
String fields
In addition to the Name and Code fields, there are 8 other string fields with no predefined purpose. You can define the title of the string fields and use them to collect string data if needed.
These fields can help you to use CostX more flexibly. For example, you can use CostX to capture and collect information about an organization's employees, and use these text fields to capture other aspects of employee information in addition to the cost fields mentioned above.
Date fields
When you use CostX to break down the tasks in a project, you have two date fields where you can enter the start and end dates of the nodes. Of course, the use of these fields is not restricted in CostX. You can change the titles of these fields and enter dates for other purposes.
CostX is designed to break large objects into smaller, more manageable pieces. It is not intended for project planning; these date fields are used only for reports or records.
Percentage field
Used by default to record the completion rate of the node when it is a task. CostX does not restrict the use of these fields. You can change the title of the fields and use them to enter a percentage for other purposes.
Percentage field is only used for reports or records. CostX is designed to break big things into small, manageable components, so it's not suitable for project planning. If you need a project planning app, you can try our QuickPlan apps.

Visibility of fields
You can select the fields that will be used in the document and that will be visible in the list view and in the inspectors.
Field display title
You can customize the title of the fields.
Field display order
You can change the display order of the fields in the list and the inspectors.
Display of the node in the chart view
You can specify how the node should be displayed in the diagram view.
Displaying the node in the columns view
You can define how the element should be displayed in the columns view.
